The Town Board approved the purchase of 57 planters for the downtown – some short (20) and some tall (37) depending on location. We hope to have the planters with plantings by the Book Festival. Thank you Streetscape Committee!
By Pizza Station, the sitting wall – with stone veneer – is almost done, just needs to top rock caps. Towards the end of the week, they will excavate the sidewalk. Next week they will install trench drains & grade for sidewalks.
On South Greeley from Pizza Station to 120, they installed drainage. By Citibank, they formed the sitting wall for our clock, and started installing the stone veneer. This area is ready sidewalks. Later this week they will pour the sidewalks.
By Bank of America, Whispering Pines & Boswell office (former EZ Sports space), they installed the steps. They will now install stucco (by Bank of America & Boswell) & limestone treads (all 3 locations). They graded for sidewalks. They will form & pour sidewalks later in the week.
As far as the alley next to (old) Hall of Scoops building, later in the week they will pour the concrete sidewalk & place asphalt.
On North Greeley from Sotheby’s towards Susan Lawrence, this area is ready for sidewalks. This week they will form & pour the sidewalk.
On Senter Street, by the Community Center, they installed new sidewalks.
On upper King to the project limit by the old Methodist Church, they installed new sidewalks.
As far as the new sitting wall in front of Great Stuff, as I previously mentioned a few weeks ago, we discovered 2 buried residential oil tanks. We needed to wait for the soil test results so we could be directed – by NYSDEC – how we can haul it away, and to where. The soil has now been removed! They installed rebar & formed the seating wall footing. Later in the week they will pour concrete for the sitting wall footing, and then install rebar & then concreate for the actual sitting wall.
From North Greeley to Waka, this week they will excavate the sidewalk from the Bagel Emporium to the project limit (up the hill). They will grade for the sidewalk. Later in the week, they will excavate the wall by Waka. Next week they will install the new wall by Waka then grade for sidewalks.
As far full road reclamation, this work is being done at night. This is one of the last steps in the process, and can only be done when all the new curbs are in place. Full depth road restoration is essentially removing the entire road – going 2 feet down – and then installing a new road bed, sub-surface & surface (pavement). Full depth reclamation began along South Greeley Avenue from the Shell to King on the Squire’s side, including the parking lane. This week they finished the King & South Greeley intersection, and are now working from south Greeley to Woodburn on the Eye Gallery side. This should be completed by Thurs. While they are doing the reclamation in sections, the final 2” top coat will be done – hopefully at night – for the entire downtown. When the road work is complete, the curbs will be the proper height in relation to the road, the slope of the new road will complete the final drainage improvements, the roads will be smooth & look great!
